The clog makers produced this type of wooden footwear commonly used in wet climates which suffer the rains and snows of long winters. The leather parts were bought from the shoemakers and fastened together with wood from birch, alder or willow. They usually remained in their workshops, but in late Autumn they travelled outside to sell and deliver received orders, carrying their tools in a wide hooped basket.
