The blacksmiths made agricultural tools and all necessary hardware for carts and households. Today, those who are not involved with craftwork are limited to repairing tools and equipment bought in stores.
The forge was usually placed on ground outside the house. They worked with mined iron which was previously rolled in an ironworks with a hydraulic hammer.
The farriers were specialist blacksmiths who bought horseshoes from blacksmiths, but were also quite capable of making them themselves. With a small anvil and a simple tool they used to shoe horses and cattle.
