LMusic is present in every aspect of existence. From lullabies to dance and party songs and sea shanties, music sets the rhythms of everyday life.
The most common traditional instruments are bagpipes, hurdy-gurdy, tambourine, the timbrel, castanets and the drum. Less common or widespread are the E-flat clarinet, the shawm, and the mouth harp. Others, such as the fiddle and the accordion are more recent additions. Added to this were a variety of devices used to produce sound and mark time: whistles, horns, horns, shells, sticks, keys, pans, bottles etc.
The most popular dances are the muiñeira and its variants, the pandeirada and others such as the jota and fandango. Music bands helped to popularize the musical heritage with pasacalles and pasadobles.
