This room opens into an idealised diorama showing the evolution of the landscape in four phases: Neolithic, Iron Age, the Middle Ages and the Present Day, together with the successive phases of land use : deforestation, growth of human settlements and incipient urbanization and the resulting environmental impact..
This is followed by systems of transporting goods :by hand , on the back, and on horseback, with the cart as the focal point.
Next come the farm implements for the various tasks: for growing cereals and grass, wooden and iron ploughshares , those used to cultivate maize, artefacts and scale models relating to viticulture and various types of hoes and sickles used in different areas.
The exhibition also includes traditional weights and measures used for liquids, solids and lengths, and finally artefacts related to livestock and the development of mountain pasture.
